Andrea Bonime-Blanc, JD/PhD, is founder and CEO of GEC Risk Advisory, a board member, strategic advisor, and multiple book author. She specializes in the governance of change focusing on global strategic risk, leadership trust, geopolitical change, sustainability, cyber resilience, and exponential tech, advising business, NGOs, and government. A former c-suite executive at four companies (including Bertelsmann, PSEG, and Verint) who has served as chief legal, risk, ethics, sustainability and cybersecurity officer, Andrea serves on several boards and advisory boards. She is a Senior Fellow at several institutions including The Conference Board’s Governance and Sustainability Center, NYU’s Center for Global Affairs, and serves as AI Ethics Strategy Fellow at the American College for Financial Services. She is Independent Ethics Advisor to the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico and founding global faculty at the Institute for Corporate Directors Malaysia Mandatory Board Sustainability Certificate. She is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Andrea was named a 2023 Diligent Governance 100 and in 2022, an NACD Directorship 100 and an Onalytica Top 50 ESG Influencers. She is an NACD Governance Leadership Fellow, holds the Carnegie Mellon Cyber Oversight Certificate and has served as faculty at NYU’s Center for Global Affairs M.S. in National Security & Cybersecurity Program. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including the 2019 Cyber Futurist Award, the 2018 inaugural Directors & Chief Risk Officers (DCRO) Exemplar Award and Ethisphere’s 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics in 2014 and 2015.
In her almost two decades as a C-suite global corporate executive including serving as general counsel and chief ethics, risk, compliance, and corporate responsibility officer, she oversaw a wide array of functions including legal, governance, risk, ethics, CSR, government relations, strategic communications, crisis management, compliance, audit, cyber and environmental, health and safety. She began her career as an international corporate lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb specializing in international M&A and project finance.
Andrea is a sought-after keynote speaker. She is quoted by and has appeared on Bloomberg TV, Yahoo Finance, Cheddar, The Wall Street Journal, FT Agenda, BBC, The New York Times, among others. She is a visiting professor at several international universities, and author of many articles and several books, most recently Gloom to Boom: How Leaders Transform Risk into Resilience and Value (Routledge 2020). Her next book – Governing Pandora: Leading in the Age of Generative AI and Exponential Technology – will be published by Georgetown University Press in early 2026.
